helpful hints on preparing that perfect cup of tea.
- Ideally, your tea should be stored in an air tight canister and placed in a cool environment, away from both natural and artificial lighting. If stored correctly, tea will keep fresh for approximately 2 years from the original date of packaging
- As a general rule of thumb, use 1 heaped teaspoon of dried tea for 1 cup (200-250ml), 2 teaspoons for 2-3 cups and 4-5 teaspoons for 4-6 cups The desired strength of your tea comes down to personal preference and a little bit of experimenting.
- Your tea can be placed in either a tea ball or small infuser if serving for one, or for larger quantiities, use a tea pot. There are many teapots available that now have a built in infuser, which saves straining the tea yourself
- Always aim to use good quality water when making your favourite blend. Spring, purified and filtered rain water are all far superior than tap water. Ideally the water should never reach full boiling point, as extreme water temperature can potentially damage the beneficial properties found in your tea. Filling up your kettle each time with fresh water prior to making another brew, also ensures great tasting tea with no identity crisis
- The brewing time of your tea once again comes down to personal preference, but as general rule, herbal tea is best left between 5-7 minutes and black, green and white tea, between 3-7minutes. Be sure to remove the tea ball or loose tea from the pot once the desired time has been reached, as this will prevent the tea from spoiling or becoming to strong too drink
